Kansas City Guns N Hoses, hosted by the Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission (KCMCC) pairs our area's finest Police Officers, Fire Fighters and Paramedics in sanctioned boxing matches. This event benefits the programs of the KCMCC, primarily the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund (SAFE). Following a line of duty death, insurance and other benefits can take weeks or even months to pay while the financial responsibilities for the family do not stop. SAFE provides immediate financial assistance to the dependent families of our fallen first responders in SAFE's 12-county coverage area.
This event is about more than a bout. Besides cheering on our first responder boxers in 10 or more bouts, we'll take time to remember and honor the 44 first responders who have been killed in the line of duty since the inception of the SAFE program in 2003.
Steven St. John, Host of Sports Radio 810 WHB New Day with SSJ and former Golden Glove boxer, will be the emcee. Paul Craig, Theatre Tech Productions, will be the Bout Announcer.
Kansas City native and Country Artist Casi Joy (4 Chair Turn on NBC's The Voice and Rolling Stone's Top 10 Blind Auditions of All Time) will sing the National Anthem and perform at intermission of the boxing.
