About this Event

Description of the Team Challenge
Two-person (same gender) teams compete in a total of 5 weightlifting based movements: Snatch, Overhead Squat, Clean and Jerk, Cluster, and Deadlift. Teams compete in one of the three “Combined Weight Classes.”
Description of the Events
Event 1
- Snatch Max In part 1 of Event 1, athletes compete in the Snatch, defined as moving a weighted barbell from the ground to to full arm extension overhead in one continuous motion. This event is conducted in a round robin format for 3 rounds.
- Partner Overhead Squat In part 2 of Event 1, athletes perform as many reps as possible in 1.5 minutes. The team selects a weight of their choice. Once a weight is selected, it cannot be changed and both athletes must use the same weight. A team’s athletes may take turns as they wish in whichever order they wish.
Event 2
- Clean and Jerk Max In part 1 of Event 2, the athletes compete in the Clean and Jerk. The Clean is defined as moving a weighted barbell from the ground to the shoulders in one continuous motion. The Jerk is defined as moving the bar from the shoulders overhead to full arm extension in one continuous motion. There must be a pause between receiving the Clean on the shoulders and the initiation of the Jerk. This event is conducted in a round robin format for 3 rounds.
- Partner Cluster In part 2 of Event 2, athletes perform a Cluster for as many reps as possible in 1.5 minutes. A Cluster is a Clean into a Push Press in one continuous motion to full arm extension. The team selects a weight of their choice. Once a weight is selected, it cannot be changed and both athletes must use the same weight. A team’s athletes may take turns as they wish in whichever order they wish.
Event 3
- Conventional Deadlift Max In Event 3, the athletes compete in the Conventional Deadlift. This event is conducted in a round robin format for 3 rounds.
- Partner Conventional Deadlift In part 2 of Event 3, athletes perform as many reps as possible in 1.5 minutes. The team selects a weight of their choice. Once a weight is selected, it cannot be changed and both athletes must use the same weight. A team’s athletes may take turns as they wish in whichever order they wish.
Weight Classes
Teams compete in one of the three Combined Weight Classes, calculated as the sum of the body weights of the two athletes on the team. The Combined Weight Classes in kilograms are:
Women’s Category Weight Classes
Lightweight: 140 kilograms or less
Middleweight: 141-164 kilograms
Super: 165+ kilograms
Men’s Category Weight Classes
Lightweight: 160 kilograms or less
Middleweight: 161-184 kilograms
Super: 185+ kilograms
