Join us for our Hobby Horse Showcases at SOUL Harbour Ranch in our Foglia Family Foundation Training Center!
Are you new to HH or an accomplished HH rider? Check it out at our fun and non-competitive events! Both new and experienced Hobby Horsers are welcome!
Our current Showcases won't be awarding "place" ribbons. Everyone will get a chance to jump and participate in the various classes but it won't be a "competition." We hope to introduce MORE potential hobby horse enthusiasts to this fun equestrian-themed sport and give those that are experienced a chance to showcase their skills. We will offer more competitive events in the future as more HH's participate! Kids AND Adults are welcome to participate.
DATE: The Hobby Horse Spring Showcase is Sunday, 3/23/25
TIME: 11am-1pm (Registration starts at 11:00 until 11:30. The Fun Jump practice session is also during this time!) *please do not arrive earlier than 11am!
LOCATION: SOUL Harbour Ranch, 22093 N. Countryside Lane, Barrington IL (parking: go past the house to the cul-de-sac, go left down the driveway to the barns, go bpast the 2nd barn/training center and go left towards the parking lot. (on the North side of the large arena building/training center.
COST: $15 per participant for 4 events (fun jump, showjumping, barrel racing and high jump; includes cost of 1 non-participating guest; extra guest $5 donation suggested) *Under 16 must be supervised by parents and/or guardians on-site. Includes a chance to see our many therapy animals at SOUL Harbour Ranch. * 100% of these proceeds benefit the the SOUL Harbour Ranch Animal Therapy Program.
WHAT IS A HOBBY HORSE SHOWCASE?
A Hobby Horse Showcase features “riders” who will complete a course of jumps with their hobby horse (a toy horse made of a straight stick with a small horse's head attached to one end OR riders can use their pool noodle horse).
The Hobby Horse Showcase will be divided into the following events (all participants are invited to 4 events: the fun jump, showjumping, barrel racing and the high jump) *start times are approximate*
1. Fun Jump (ALL ages): not timed, just have fun jumping the course! Use as your practice round before the below competitions. Start time: 11-11:30
2. Showjumping Start time 11:30-12 *choose 1 division you would like to be in
Mini Showjumping (poles are on the ground)
Junior Showjumping (poles at 1 foot)
Senior Showjumping (poles at 2 feet)
3. Barrel racing: an exhilarating Western contest racing the barrels. 12-12:30
4. High Jump: ALL riders will be able to participate in the High Jump Competition! (3 feet) 12:30-1pm
*Choreographed dressage routines welcome for exhibition (please let us know if you have music)
Riders can wear Derby or riding attire or dress in whatever they deem appropriate with closed toe shoes.
