Join us on Saturday, March 15, 2025, as we travel to Highland County, "Virginia's Switzerland," for their 64th annual Maple Festival. This unique celebration has been designated a local legacy by the Library of Congress. Sugar camp tours provide a unique and educational glimpse of a rapidly vanishing way of American life. We will enjoy a hot buckwheat pancake breakfast famously made by the local Ruritan Club featuring a variety of locally made Maple syrups. From there, we travel north to tour a working Sugr Camp and its rustic country store. Live Blue Grass music starts at noon. Then it's off to the Fetivcasl Grounds in Monterey. Festival fare includes food vendors with local specialties. Festival Fun includes over 160 q2uality artists, crafters, clogging and square dancing groups, folk singers, and storytellers.
We will enjoy a hot breakfast made by the Amish and enjoy the Maple Syrup.

PRICE PER PERSON: $89. The full amount is due when the reservation is made.
PRICE INCLUDES: Roundtrip Parks and Recreation transit van transportation, a buckwheat pancake breakfast, a Sugar Camp tour, Bluegrass music, downtown Monterey Maple Festival arts and crafts show entry.
DEPARTURE TIME AND LOCATIONS: The bus will depart at 8:00 a.m. from the City of Roanoke Public Works Building. 1802 Courtland Rd NE. Return time is around 8:15 p.m. to Roanoke.
CANCELLATION POLICY: The trip is based on a minimum amount of paid participants by March 9, 2025. Should we cancel the trip, a full refund will be given.

Registration fees are fully refundable if cancellation is made before the program registration is closed (register-by date). If cancellation is made after registration is closed, only 50% of the registration fee will be refunded unless otherwise noted by the program description.
