Historian Adrienne Provenzano will perform a historic portrayal of Grace Julian Clarke. As the dynamic and accomplished Hoosier she will discuss her experiences in the women’s club movement, the passage of the 19th Amendment, and the role of women in public health matters, including her activities with the Red Cross.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Adrienne Provenzano is an accomplished researcher, performer, and educator. In 2018 she portrayed author Mary Shelley throughout the state as part of the Indiana Humanities One State/One Story celebration of the 200th anniversary of Shelley's classic novel Frankenstein. Other dynamic and engaging historic portrayals include Gene Stratton-Porter, Sarah T. Bolton, and Amelia Earhart. She has presented at schools, libraries, museums, state historic sites, nature centers, and other educational facilities.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Glenn B. Mather, MD graduated from IU School of Medicine in 1959 and was a respected pathologist in Bloomington, Indiana beginning in 1964. He was a teacher and a volunteer, serving on a number of Board of Directors, including for many years here at the Indiana Medical History Museum and the Indiana State Archives. Dr. Mather passed away in June of 2009, and this annual lecture was established in his memory in 2010. His passion and dedication is still remembered today.
