About the speaker: Franca Dalibor
Being in recovery for over 35 years, I am currently a Certified Recovery Specialist and work for Geisinger’s Health System as the Substance Use Navigation Team Lead. It is a privilege for me to use my lived experience to support others through their recovery journey from substance use disorders. Growing up in Pennsylvania’s Coal Region, I learned the value of hard work, and shortly after graduation went on to a career in studio Photography. After moving to South Jersey, I navigated my personal pathway in recovery and after becoming mom to my two children, they became my focus for many years. During my lifetime, in addition to providing peer recovery support services, I am a go-to resource for recovery perspectives and advocacy across the state, in the community and at local coalition meetings.
Working for Geisinger, I educate and train hospital and ambulatory staff members on recovery values and principles, integration of peer specialist, stigma, and harm reduction. In 2019 I was integral to the launch of the Free2BMom program and was Co-Chair of the Pennsylvania’s Perinatal Quality Collaborative’s (PA PQC) 2021 Maternal SUD Work Group for implementing key interventions to improve the identification of and care for maternal SUD and Substance Exposed Newborns. Present day, as the Substance Use Navigation Team Lead, I oversee the Geisinger’s Warm handoff program with CRS partnerships across the system, supervise our Navigators at our Scranton campus, and aid in developing standards and guidelines for CRS performance.
Over the past 7 years, I’ve become the face of Geisinger’s Addiction Medicine by numerous video interviews including WNEP’s Health Watch with Julie Sidoni, WILK Radio and Geisinger’s Daily Dose. Although, my biggest success is now being “Grandma” to Jack 8, Isla 6 and furbaby Rocky.
