Fashion Academy Course List 2025
MORNING OPTIONS - MONDAY - SATURDAY ONLY:
CHOOSE ONE OPTION ONLY FOR EACH TIME SLOT
9 – 10:30 a.m.
• MAKE A PLAN – FASHION BRAND DEVELOPMENT: Explore and discover the secrets of creating a successful fashion brand. You will create and put together a plan and assortment for your target customer, favorite season, or store of choice. Learn what it takes to be the one deciding the fashion that we all buy. (Limit 12)
• EMBELLISH IT – SURFACE DESIGN: Explore surface design techniques such as beading, smocking, stamping, and painting to bring your custom design top to life. No sewing necessary. (Limit 12)
• WHAT IS HOT, WHAT IS NOT – TREND FORECASTING: Ever wonder why everybody is wearing or buying the same thing or same color? It all about following what is happening in music, TV, the movies as well as what was worn in the past...or the art of Trend Forecasting. Learn the "how and why" while creating your own forecast for the next big thing. (Limit 14)
• STRUT YOUR STUFF FOR THE CAMERA – RUNWAY AND PHOTOGRAPHY MODELING: Learn the modeling business and modeling techniques for photography on the runway and studio photography, along with how to put on a fashion show. Class will share responsibility with the afternoon section for planning and coordinating the student fashion show that takes place Friday afternoon. (Limit 14)
10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
• PICTURE THIS – FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY & STYLING: Learn from an industry fashion photographer the do’s and don’ts of studio and outdoor photo shoots. Adobe Photoshop software touch-ups will also be explored. (Limit 14)
• MAKE IT POP – FASHION ACCESSORIES: Learn how to create and sew your own accessories that complement your original designs. Explore different accessories like bags and jewelry, to create one of a kind pieces. (Limit 12)
• FCFD BIND IT UP – FASHION COLLECTION FOLIO DEVELOPMENT: Learn the art of making your own Fashion Folio and then fill it with your own fashion illustrations and inspirations. (Limit 12)
• STRUT YOUR STUFF – MODELING AND FASHION SHOW COORDINATION: Learn the modeling business and modeling techniques for the runway, along with how to put on a fashion show. Class will share responsibility with the morning section for planning and coordinating the student fashion show that takes place Friday afternoon. (Limit 14)
AFTERNOON OPTIONS:
Everyone Participates in These Classes
1 – 2 p.m. Monday
• WHERE DO I FIT? – FASHION CAREERS WORKSHOP: Explore your options in careers in fashion like merchandising, fashion design, visual display, patternmaking, trend forecasting, technical design, buying, store design, and event planning. Be ready to learn about all of the exciting careers in fashion. (Limit 52)
1 – 2 p.m. Wednesday
• THE MODELING BIZ– An inside look at the fast paced industry of modeling. (Limit 52)
1 – 2 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
• THE WORLD IS YOUR RUNWAY – RUNWAY MODELING & FASHION SHOW PRACTICE: Everyone has their own style with their own unique walk. Find you style and learn modeling and walking techniques, along with building confidence for participating in the Friday Fashion Show Finale. (Limit 52)

• DISPLAY AND DAZZLE – DISPLAY DESIGN AND PLANNING: Ever wonder what it takes to plan and create the displays that you see in your favorite stores? Learn the design elements needed to plan a display, work with mannequins and props and create your own dazzling display for all to see in the Academic Showcase. (Limit 12)
• LET’S GO DIGITAL – INTRO TO FASHION DESIGN WITH CAD: Be on the cutting edge of fashion by learning how to design your own garment using CAD software. This crash course will show you how the experts in fashion digitally create the latest trend. *CAD is computer aided design. (Limit 16)
• SEW IT UP – CLOTHING CONSTRUCTION: Choose only one
- SECTION ONE-UPCYCLING – BEGINNERS ONLY: Explore the world of sewing and upcycling to make new or turn old garments into exciting fashions! Must supply own garment to upcycle. (Limit 12)
- SECTION TWO- CLOTHING CONSTRUCTION – SEWING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Students will learn a variety of sewing techniques as they cut, sew, and alter patterns if needed. Students will work on their garments for a personal fit to make a one of a kind finished garment. (Limit 12)
