Originally launched in 2009 as a fun rivalry game between two 8th-grade Waterford teams, the event transformed in 2010 into a charity fundraiser after a young player, Jordan Addis, was diagnosed with leukemia. It was renamed in 2012 to honor Dave Hanson, a beloved coach, mentor, and supporter of the program, after his passing.
Now in its 14th year, the game not only gives 8th-grade players a special experience of playing “under the lights” on the high school field but also serves as a powerful example of community solidarity and compassion. Each year, a local family affected by illness or injury is chosen to receive the proceeds from the event.
Join us at half time for a 50/50 raffle, roof raffle, and basket raffle. There will also be a bake sale and silent auction!
This year’s event will benefit Evey Laux who suffered a spinal cord injury after a tragic accident. She is a Waterford high school student and her immediate and extended family all have prior or current ties to football in our community. She has a long journey of healing, please save the date to help us raise funds to support her journey of recovery.
