2025 CTC\/HYC YOUTH ICE FISHING DERBY CTC and HYC are excited for its Youth Ice Fishing Derby on Saturday, February 8th located outside River Park Campground!
About this Event

PLEASE READ THE FULL DESCRIPTION BEFORE PURCHASING!

Join us for this family-friendly fishing derby on Saturday, February 8th, with a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m. outside River Park Campground. This event is open to children ages 1-14, with pre-registration required for pre-drilled holes. No "day of" registrations will be allowed. Mapped area will again be stocked with trout courtesy of NKS Tire and Auto!

Spots are limited: Only 100 available. Registration closes on January 31st or when sold out.

Bait provided: Each hole purchase includes one tin of wax worms. Participants must bring their own fishing gear/poles, as fishing poles will not be provided this year due to limited funding.


Rules & Guidelines:

Check-In:

  • Bring your confirmation email or proof of purchase to check-in.
  • If your name is not on our check-in sheet and you cannot provide proof of registration, you will not be allowed to participate.

Hole Selection:

  • Please ensure the hole numbers from our map below match the ones you select at ticket purchase.
  • Volunteers will do their best to match your requested locations when pre-drilling holes, but final placement depends on public shanties and ice/weather conditions.

Fishing Rules:

  • Children must be present at their hole for fishing; parents are not allowed to fish in their absence (this will be enforced per fishing laws).
  • A maximum of two youth per hole is permitted.
  • A maximum of one adult per two children is allowed for supervision. If you bring more than two children, another adult must be present.
  • Tip-ups, shanties, and fishing cameras are not allowed.

Prohibited items:

  • Alcohol
  • Nicotine and tobacco products
  • Electronic cigarettes and vape products
  • Any illegal drugs

Ice Conditions and Refunds:If ice conditions are unsafe or inclement weather occurs, the event will be canceled, and refunds will be issued. Please check your email on the morning of the event for updates.

Event Activities:Food for purchase (courtesy of Tasty Traveler!), music, bucket raffles, and large-item raffles!

Cash only for raffles: $20 per sheet of 26 tickets for bucket raffles. Pricing for large-item raffle tickets will be announced closer to the event.

Fishing and Awards:

  • Fishing will conclude at 1:00 p.m. (no poles in the water after this time).
  • All weigh-ins must be completed by 1:15 p.m.
  • Raffle winners will be drawn at 1:15 p.m.
  • Trophy awards will begin at 1:30 p.m.
  • Raffle winners will be announced promtly after awards.
    Trophies will be awarded in the following categories and age brackets:
  • Age Brackets: 1-7 and 8-14
  • Categories: Perch/bluegill, game fish, and other fish
  • Awards: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies for the heaviest fish and most fish caught in each bracket and category.



Special Notes:
  • Waivers: All participants must sign a waiver at check-in.
  • Hole Assignments: Hole requests will be honored based on availability, but exact placement cannot be guaranteed due to ice and weather conditions.

Our coordinators and volunteers will make every effort to align with this map when pre-drilling holes on the morning of the derby. However, adjustments may be necessary due to public shanties already in place and weather/ice conditions.
