About this Event
During this course individuals participating will review clinically relevant literature to identify various types of orthotics available for fabrication for individuals with spinal cord injury, post-CVA, post-ABI, and other neurological disorders. Information will cover basic principles of orthotic fabrication, and variability in properties of low-temperature thermoplastic materials, positioning principles, and case presentations for optimal outcomes. They will discuss clinical application, indications and contraindications, and fabrication of 4 different orthotics most relevant to this population. In addition, this course will review static and dynamic orthotics, custom and pre-fabricated orthotics, and alternative positioning options available to practitioners. This course will include lecture, lab, case presentations and discussion.
