About Dusky Waters:
Dusky Waters is an Americana songwriter inspired by the Mississippi River and her experiences in the South. Her music blends gospel, folk, and soul with contemporary pop, reflecting her journey through Arkansas, Louisiana, and New Orleans. Dusky Waters' upbeat sound features soulful lyrics, powerful harmonies, and a unique blend of Americana, incorporating instruments like banjo, guitar, accordion, and viola. Their music has been praised for its songwriting and vocals, leading to a successful debut at the 2024 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Dusky Waters performs with a band and is also the co-founder of Black Americana Fest.
About Teena May:
Teena May's musical path began at age four with a toy piano and classical piano lessons, later leading her to teach herself guitar and songwriting in college. Despite exploring other career paths, she rekindled her passion for songwriting in Brooklyn, NY, in 2012. After years of self-doubt, a pivotal open mic night in New Orleans in 2022 solidified her belief that sharing her music was her calling. Teena performs her extensive 200+ song catalogue across the United States and Paris, France, in solo performances, as a duo with a fiddle player, or with a full band (fiddle, upright bass, and drums).
