On Saturday, February 22, pregnant women, new babies, toddlers and even youngsters up to 5 years old are invited to participate in the Annual Baby Blessing to be held at Blue Lotus Temple and Meditation Center in Woodstock, IL.
The brief but moving ceremony will be held during the regular Saturday meditation service beginning at 10 a.m. There will be a brief meditation and the families will join everyone in the Dhamma Hall and receive a traditional blessing and mindfulness bracelets for parents and children. Each child will also receive a certificate of the ceremony.The short ceremony reminds parents and other adults to be good and positive influences for these children, and to be adults who earn their trust and respect over the years as they grow. It is an occasion that creates a memory for the entire family and the community of practitioners, reminding us of how we are connected to each other and interdependent on each other.
Everyone is welcome to join the ceremony and celebration of the children’s blessings.
Parents who want to participate with their children must pre-register with the office at Blue Lotus, by emailing [email protected]. We will need the name of the parent(s), and your child's full name.
There is a suggested offering of $25 per family, to cover costs of certificates and to help support the hospital projects of Bhante Sujatha when he travels to Sri Lanka.
