About this Event
Every April, the Fresno Council on Child Abuse Prevention (FCCAP) promotes public awareness of the abuse and neglect of children and resources available for prevention, intervention, and treatment. This year’s convening will address how to support parents because the 2024 U. S. Surgeon General’s Advisory reports:
- 41% of parents report being so stressed they cannot function most days.
- 66% of parents report feeling consumed by worrying about money and 1 in 4 parents could not afford basic needs.
- 77% of substantiated child abuse cases were committed by a parent.
"Raising children is sacred work. It should matter to all of us. And the health and well-being of those who are caring for our children should matter to us as well" - U.S. General Surgeon, Dr. Murthy.
FCCAP hopes this convening will help catalyze and support the changes needed to ensure all parents and caregivers can thrive, especially parents and children at the highest risk for abuse, neglect and ACEs. If you work with children, your input is critical to the process of improving services to ensure better outcomes for children.
Thank you for your continued support and please pass this invitation to other “prevention partners”!
Invitations will be mailed next week with more details on the event program.
