Welcome to the 2025 Alabama P&O Association Shoe Fitters Course! Join us at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham - The Wynfrey Hotel for an exciting in-person event where you can enhance your skills as a shoe fitter.
The content of the course includes the following information:
- Anatomy of the Foot: Basic anatomy of the foot and its relation to proper shoe fitting.
- Terminology: Basic medical terminology for communication and documentation.
- Material Science: Identification of materials common in therapeutic footwear and orthoses.
- Patient Evaluation Techniques: Physical evaluation of the foot and identification of therapeutic shoe eligibility.
- Common Foot Pathologies and Deformities: Identification of common foot pathologies.
Erick Janisse, CO, CPed
Dr. Comfort’s Corporate Trainer, Erick Janisse, CO, CPed teaches our Certified Shoe Fitter courses and many of our Continuing Education courses. He joined Dr. Comfort in 2017 after 25 years of clinical experience in patient care. He has been invited to teach courses internationally and throughout the United States. He has been faculty for programs presented by the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, Baylor Scott & White Health and Washington University School of Medicine.
