Durham University Quiz Society are delighted to announce we will be hosting the Northern UK mirror of the 2025 edition of ACF Fall on Saturday, October 18th.Games will be held in Elvet Riverside (room details will follow).
Please arrive before 9:30, when we will have a briefing and prepare to start. Matches will begin promptly at 10am, or earlier if the briefing is finished sooner. Moderators are kindly asked to arrive earlier (e.g. 9:15) if at all possible so that your rooms can be set up.
This is a closed (i.e. student-only), restricted tournament. Player eligibility will be decided holistically by UKQB, while ACF additionally enforces hard limits barring players having done any one of the following:
- More than 60 PPG in the prelims of a collegiate mirror of a previous ACF Fall
- Top scorer (highest overall PPG) on a team that finished in the top 15% of the field, rounded up, at a previous ACF Fall
- More than 60 PP20TUH in the prelims of HSNCT or 60 PPG in the prelims of PACE NSC
- Top scorer (highest overall PPG) on a team that finished in the top 30 at HSNCT or top 10 at PACE NSC
- Finished in the top 12 in IPNCT
- Scored more than 20 PPG in the prelims of ACF Nationals.
We are aware that the tournament runs close to the start of term-time in most UK universities, but please make every effort to get your rosters checked over by UKQB as soon as feasible.
Costs as follows:
Base fee per team: £80
New to quizbowl* discount: −£40
Shorthanded discount (1–2 players): −£50
Moderators: −£25 per moderator; if moderators are affiliated with a university, this can be deducted from the team’s fee.
*The new to quizbowl discount is intended for schools that did not send a team to any mainstream collegiate academic tournament (not counting exclusively novice tournaments) before September 2024, and which have no players who competed in non-novice collegiate tournaments during that same period.
