Join us for a full morning of insights on workforce development at the Yakima Convention Center on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
This event will focus on workforce development, featuring speakers on topics such as skills-based hiring, the value of older workers, and the benefits of employing justice-involved individuals.
Speakers include experts from Lightcast, Providence, AARP Washington, and Recovery Career Services. Attendees will gain valuable insights into modern hiring practices and inclusive workforce strategies.
SHRM continuing education credits will be available. Limited seating is available. Admission includes breakfast.

is the Advocacy Director for AARP Washington State where she manages government relations and legislative affairs to support policies serving the 50+ population. AARP has nearly 870,000 members in the state and she has worked on a variety of policies related to long-term care, workforce, prescription drugs, health care, housing, retirement savings, and property taxes.
She has worked for some of the leading nonprofit organizations including World Vision and YWCA addressing global and domestic public health, poverty, and economic justice issues. She also worked for Microsoft to advance information access and digital inclusion to expand a technology-skilled workforce.
She has a Master’s in Policy Studies from the University of Washington – Bothell.
is EVP of Growth at Lightcast, the leading provider of labor market data and insights. He works on thought leadership and strategic business development for the company’s Education & Government division. He previously served as EVP and GM of the economic and workforce development division at Lightcast, where he led his team through the merger of Emsi and Burning Glass Technologies in 2021 and the acquisitions of Gazelle.ai and eIMPACT in 2023.
Josh is a former journalist who started at Emsi in 2008. He has served in different marketing, professional services, and executive roles for the Idaho-based company. In 2004, Josh graduated from the University of Idaho with bachelor degrees in journalism and history. He’s worked full time or as a freelance sports writer for several newspapers, magazines, and the Associated Press. He enjoys living in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and three children.
is the Chief Human Resource Officer for Providence - Inland Northwest Washington Service Area. She has been part of the HR Department at Providence since 2016.
Julie has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Eastern Washington University and is SHRM-CP certified. She is currently a member of the Spokane Workforce Council and the Past President of the Washington State SHRM Council. She is an Alumni of Leadership Spokane and a member of Inland Northwest Society of Human Resource Management (INSHRM).
is an author and speaker who has presented for Amazon, Comcast, and other large organizations. Known for his humor and insights, he helps employers build inclusive hiring practices. In 2020, Ty founded Recovery Career Services, a nonprofit offering career coaching for those recovering from addiction and past criminal justice involvement. Appointed by Governor Inslee to the WA Statewide Reentry Council in 2022, he also works for the WA State Employment Security Department to enhance employment outcomes for people exiting Pr*son. Ty holds an MBA, HR and workforce development credentials, and is a Professional Recovery Coach.
