Every year, we light a winter solstice bonfire at 4pm. We ward a circle around it with our sacred witchy intents, and invite all to come into the circle.
The ritual burning that heads us back toward the light is symbolic for the deepest of introspection at the darkest time of year.
Write down on slips of paper, origami foldings, or even pieces of wood, any negativity you wish to purge, and also any positive intentions you wish to spark a fire under.
Toss them in the flames with other offerings, like a fruit, herbs, or nuts; or personal effects (which can be safely burned) that needs release.
Small amounts of ashes from those beloved departed, people and pets, can be sealed in a paper envelope or paper boat for blessings and release as well. Sparking a connection to all those who now champion us across a distant gulf on the other side.
Toss in the fire, then walk around the fire three times meditating on the little bit of magical and sacred working you just did.
A ritual rich with the symbolism one wishes to imbue in it, done with sacred intention among others in a shared experience.
It’s as simple as a twenty-minute affair; works a bit of healing magic every time.
Show up anytime between 4pm-6pm.
Afterwards, go out for a celebratory solstice feast at a restaurant you love. A fitting Solstice tribute!
