About this Event

The TEA APAC NextGen Design Challenge is a one-week competition open to university students and recent graduates in or from APAC region. It aims to introduce APAC university students and young professions to the themed entertainment industry, TEA, and benefits of NextGen membership within the confines of an exciting and participatory competition.

APAC NextGens have a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights and ideas from industry experts serving as judges through the Design Challenge. Upon completion of this challenge, participants will have the privilege of engaging in intimate discussions with TEA Masters during round table sessions, along with the possibility of exploring career opportunities through dedicated breakout sessions with APAC Board Members and Advisors.

Winners will receive the prizes including a cash award, participation in TEA Master round table discussions, and publishment on InPark Magazine.

Timeline

Competition Date: Fri, 07/26 – Sat, 08/03

- TEA APAC Board will release the prompt, as well as introduce TEA and TEA NextGen on Fri (07/26) via Zoom

This session will be recorded so anyone who is unable to attend can view the prompt release.

- Mid-Point Check-In with Advisor: Tuesday, 07/30

TEA APAC NextGen Design Challenge (主题娱乐协会亚太区新生代设计挑战赛)是一项为期一周的、向亚太地区的大学生和两年内毕业的应届毕业生开放的设计挑战。其旨在通过一场激动人心、引人入胜的竞赛,向亚太地区的大学生和年轻专业人士介绍主题娱乐行业、TEA(主题娱乐协会)组织以及NextGen会员的福利。

APAC(亚太地区)的新生代们有机会通过设计挑战从担任评委的行业专家那里获得宝贵的见解和想法。完成设计挑战后,参与者会同TEA大师们在圆桌会议上深入交流,同时还有可能在APAC区域协会董事会成员和导师举办的专项会议中探索职业机会。

此次设计挑战赛设置的奖品包含现金、TEA大师圆桌讨论会以及在InPark杂志上发表此次大赛获胜者作品的机会等。


「TEA APAC NextGen Design Challenge」は、アジア太平洋地域の大学生および新卒者を対象とした1週間のコンペティションです。刺激的な参加型コンペティションの中で、アジア太平洋地域の大学生や若手社会人にテーマエンターテイメント業界、テーマエンターテイメント協会、そしてネクストジェン会員のメリットを紹介することを目的としています。

アジア太平洋地域のネクストジェンにとって、このデザインチャレンジは、審査員を務める業界の専門家から貴重な見識やアイデアを得ることができるまたとない機会です。このチャレンジを完了すると、参加者はラウンドテーブルセッションでテーマエンターテイメント協会マスターと親密なディスカッションができるだけでなく、アジア太平洋地域のテーマエンターテイメント協会ボードメンバーやアドバイザーとのブレイクアウトセッションを通じてキャリアの可能性を探ることができます。

優勝者には賞金、テーマエンターテイメント協会マスターとのラウンドテーブルディスカッションへの参加、『InPark Magazine』への掲載などの特典が授与されます。


Eligible Participants

- Students are currently attending APAC college in any level

- Alumni graduated APAC college within two years

- Students are original from APAC and currently attending college outside of APAC

- Alumni graduated college outside of APAC within two years and currently working in APAC

- All participants must agree to Terms & Agreement

The prompt will be released the first day of the design challenge.

Participants have the option to engage a themed entertainment industry advisor, who typically holds mid to senior-level positions within themed entertainment firms globally. These advisors offer a one-hour mid-point check session with participants, scheduled at a mutually convenient time. While they bring valuable industry insights based on their experience, advisors do not undertake the actual execution of tasks for participants.


Please register the number of the tickets equal to the number of the participants. E.g: If your team has 4 members, register 4 tickets.

Submissions

1. The Challenge’s main deliverable would be a 6-page PDF presentation (to be presented as part of the final event day) that clearly explains the design and technical intent of the student project.

2. Presentations will be a maximum of 4-minutes to be presented in English.

3. To be included is a 1-minute video of the work process that shows team collaboration and project development. Video needs to be in English.

4. PDF Submissions will be in English.


Grading Criteria

1. Collaboration between majors, disciplines, and cultures is strongly encouraged.

2. Projects should show equal consideration to the technical, engineering, and safety challenges of the work as well as aesthetics and design.

3. Participants should consider storytelling and visual presentation in the entirety of their work.

4. All designs should contain input and consideration for universal accessibility, including accessibility across all ages.

5. No unlicensed intellectual properties are to be used in the project.

6. All designs must be original and not a copy of an existing work.
