For this year’s Summer Concert, Cicci Santucci proposes a group with different instruments from his usual formation, by using a vibraphone and a guitar in the place of a piano and a saxophone. The concert will offer some original compositions and some standards. With Cicci Santucci on trumpet and flugelhorn, there are:
Mario De Ciutiis: a vibraphonist/malletKAT player, originally from NYC. He has spent the last 42 years playing percussion in the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra, but has retired and is doing what he loves most – playing Jazz!
Bob Ferrier: a freelance guitarist who holds a B.M. degree in Performance from Berklee College of Music and a M.M. degree in Jazz Composition/Arranging from UMass Amherst. He is a Professor and Director of Jazz Studies at Holyoke Community College, and a Professor of Jazz Guitar at UMass Amherst.
George Kaye: a bass player, and part of the trio that regularly performs with guest musicians every Tuesday night at the “Drake” in Amherst.
John Fisher: a drummer, and one of the best in the area!
The West Springfield Lions Club will be serving food & soft drinks and the West Springfield Rotary Club will be serving beer & wine at this event sponsored by Westfield Bank.
