The Southern Maine Children's Water Festival is a free event coordinated by leading state and nonprofit environmental organizations in Maine. The principal objectives include: advancing environmental literacy, developing career interest in science, technology, engineering, and math fields, providing teachers with resource materials and classroom activities, and promoting partnerships and collaboration between teachers and resource professionals.This annual event is traditionally held during the month of May and features presentations, exhibits, a stage show, and a number of fun and educational hands-on activities all related to water, water habitats, aquatic life, and water quality.
Students in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoc, York, and southern Kennebec counties are eligible to attend.
