? The 4th SOM Chili Cookoff is Coming! ?? When: Sunday, October 6, 2024 / 11AM-3PM
? Where: The Som Parking Lot, 863 Jefferson St., Burlington, Iowa
Here’s everything you need to know to bring the heat!
What Teams Should Bring:
- Prepping table
- Pop-up canopy (optional, for shade)
- Your own cooking gear (Propane burner, turkey fryer, charcoal grill, propane grill, electric roaster—whatever works!)
- Lounge chairs to relax in style
- Proper cooking utensils
- Hand sanitizer
- Two cutting boards (one for raw meat, one for produce)
- A pinch of creativity and your secret chili ingredient! ?
Competition Rules:
- Teams can consist of 1-2 people.
- The Som will provide 5 lbs of ground beef, cooking gloves, and a sanitizer bucket for each team.
- Bring your chili ingredients in coolers to keep them at food-safe temperatures.
- Any unsafe food practices = disqualification! ?
- You can pre-cook the meat, but everything else must be prepped and cooked on-site.
- Chili cooking is from 11 am to 3 pm.
