ArtSpan is excited to host the 2024 SF Open Studios Exhibition at SOMArts Cultural Center! Our beloved annual tradition enters its 50th year, Celebrating the abundant creativity of the SF Bay Area & kick-off our SF Open Studios season with the ArtSpan community within the SFOS Exhibition. The Exhibition features the work of participating SFOS artists and provides a preview to help guide your studio visits.

The SFOS Exhibition honors the artists responsible for our region's unique artistic landscape that attracts admirers from all over the world. The exhibition is open for public viewing beginning Friday, September 20th through Sunday, October 13, 2024.
September 20–October 13 Gallery Hours:
Thursday: 3–7PM
Friday: 12–7PM
Saturday-Sunday:* 12–5PM
*Note that gallery hours on the final day of the exhibition, Sunday, October 13th will be 12-3pm.
Artwork must remain in the exhibition for the duration of the show. There will be an online store showcasing all artworks digitally with point of sale access to take home an art piece that captures your heart.

SF OPEN STUDIOS' HISTORY: ArtSpan evolved from SF Open Studios (SFOS), begun in 1975 by a small group of enterprising artists who concurrently opened their studios to the public annually over one weekend to increase the accessibility of their work. Following the devastation of the 1989 earthquake, these artists created a strong organization to ensure SFOS would remain a San Francisco tradition, and in 1991, ArtSpan received its nonprofit, tax-exempt status. SFOS has grown exponentially, spanning four weekends, with over 800 participating artists and 100,000+ visitors.
This year, ArtSpan's SF Open Studios (SFOS) program will run from Thursday, October 20 through Sunday, November 19. Our 50th season includes ArtLaunch, our in-person kick-off celebration in the SFOS Exhibition at the SOMArts Cultural Center; as well as 4 weekends of artist-hosted studio events.
