The 2024 QBA State Conference is the premier beekeeping conference in Queensland and is open to beekeepers from all backgrounds to attend. Townsville will be buzzing over 5 days, when beekeepers, researchers, and industry specialists will arrive in town, swarming Rydges Townsville for the Welcome Event, Conference, and Annual Dinner.
Following on from the Conference the 'Buzztastic Festival' hosted by the Townsville & District Beekeepers Association (Saturday 13th July), and to wrap up 4 exciting days of education the QBA will host the 'Beekeepers' Break' a group excursion to the stunning tropical paradise that is Magnetic Island (14th July 2024).
We're tackling the tough topics concerning every Queensland-based beekeepers’ at our 'Sustainable Beekeeping Beyond Varroa' 2024 State Conference.
From managing varroa in the tropics to understanding the global honey market and fraud that's influencing Australian honey prices through our session 'beyond our borders'.
We'll also take a closer look into our changing pest and disease landscape as a key priority to delivering the support our beekeepers need as they navigate a transition to managing the mite.
We'll wrap up our conference with a 'Resilient Beekeeping' panel discussion where delegates have the opportunity to learn from our southern colleagues already managing the mite, enhanced by international observations spotlighting the 'good, the bad and the ugly' of varroa mite management.
The QBA official activities will draw to a close with delegates encouraged to attend the ‘Annual QBA Dinner’ where we will celebrate our 120th AGM Anniversary.
