Athlete Check-In/Bag Check Volunteers
Volunteers will assist with the following: Checking athlete’s names off of the check-in sheet, distributing bibs, pins, and other race materials, collecting athlete’s belongings prior to the race and organizing them in bag check, monitoring athlete’s belongings for the duration of the event, and redistributing athlete’s belongings post race. Athlete Check-In Volunteers may also be asked to assist at the start and finish line if necessary.
Start Line Volunteers
Volunteers will assist with the following: Reminding athletes of the mandatory pre-race briefing, directing athletes to the start line, and monitoring pedestrian and vehicular traffic surrounding the start line to ensure a smooth race launch.
Intersection Monitors
Volunteers will assist with the following: monitoring pedestrian and vehicular traffic on course and communicating traffic patterns with athletes and staff. Intersection monitors will work in tandem with the Finish Line Team.
Finish Line Volunteers
Volunteers will assist with the following: monitoring pedestrian and vehicular traffic surrounding the finish line, calling out first place finishers in each field, directing athletes towards the finish line, keeping the finish line clear of spectators, and holding the finish line tape. Finish Line Volunteers will work in tandem with the Intersection Monitors.
Bike Marshals
These individuals must have a high level of comfort riding in NYC street traffic at night. All bikes must have breaks, lights, and bells. You will escort the field from a safe distance as they make their way through the course.
Live Stream Staff
These individuals must have a high level of comfort riding in NYC street traffic at night. All bikes must have breaks, lights and bells. These riders must be comfortable using one hand to steer as they use the other to livestream their respective runners.
Event Details: The distance will be measured to the best of our abilities and the race will feature electronic timing. We will provide a bag check for registered athletes. Additional information will be emailed to registered athletes and volunteers the week of the race.

Distance: 1 Mile
Prize Money: $500 for 1st place, $200 for 2nd place, and $100 for 3rd place in each field.
Timing cut-off will be at the 6 minute mark, this means anyone taking longer than 6 minutes to complete the course will not be officially timed.
In 2020, the top three men were Simon Voorhees (4:29.08), Spencer Zidarich (4:29.15), and Boyd Carrington (4:31.58).
The top three women were Rebeka Stowe (4:55.65), Christine Eisenberg (4:55.85), and Waverly Neer (4:59.51).
There was no Non-Binary field in 2020 and we look forward to crowning the first OSR1 Non-Binary Champion this year.
All registered volunteers and athletes will receive a free 2024 OSR1 T-shirt, exclusive to this event.
If weather conditions limit our ability to execute the race the alternate date will be 10/17/2024, following the same schedule. By registering you acknowledge availability for both dates. There will be no refunds or transfers for any reason
