About this Event

Join us on Saturday, November 9th for the annual NAMI State Conference to hear from our Keynote Speaker Larissa May, Mental health advocate and activist for female empowerment.

Opening Keynote bio:

Larissa May

Larissa May is a digital well-being pioneer and the founder of #HalfTheStory, the first non-profit dedicated to empowering the next generation’s healthy relationship with social media. As the first youth-led nonprofit of its kind, #HalfTheStory is focused on education, advocacy, and the mitigation of harms associated with social media and tech use. #HalfTheStory's evidence-based education program, Social Media U teaches key digital metacognition and emotional regulation skills, while empowering young people to understand and advocate for their digital well-being.

Larissa founded #HalfTheStory after facing her own struggles with social media, and has become the face of a rapidly growing movement towards digital wellness, leading the global narrative for youth-centric policy and advocacy in the US, UK, EU, and UAE. Prior to #HalfTheStory, Larissa helped build some of today’s buzziest D2C brands, including Kin Euphorics and Otherland, winning the Business Insider Brand Marketing Rising Stars Award for her work. In 2023, Larissa received the Mozilla Foundation's Rise 25 award as one of the top 25 leading innovators in the world. Larissa has been featured in the WSJ, TIME, Forbes, Refinery29, Good Morning America, The TODAY Show, and NBC.

Later, you will have the opportunity to attend workshops of your choosing and help us recognize the contributions of this year's NAMI award winners during our annual Awards Luncheon.

We will conclude the day with a closing keynote. More information coming soon!
