Join the Mill Creek Yacht Club for the 30th Annual Cleanup by Canoe in the Mill Creek Valley!
Starting in April 1995, we have held this community service event to celebrate Earth Day. It is organized in concert with the MCYC, Mill Creek Alliance, City of Reading and other local governments & groups.
THIS IS A HANDS DIRTY FEET WET EVENT. You might be reserving a seat in the canoe but your really won't be sitting in it much!! Come wearing waders, boots, and sturdy shoes that you don't mind getting wet and muddy. No open toed shoes allowed. Safety equipment (PFD, etc) will be supplied by the Mill Creek Yacht Club. You may also want to bring: shovels, pry bars, work gloves, sun hat, sunscreen, bug spray, personal snacks, a dry bag, a non-disposable water bottle. Extra supplies of this sort will also be on hand.
Plan details are still being finalized and are subject to change. There are a lot of moving parts to this cleanup. You will be assigned a work crew as the date gets closer. All who register will be notified of exact locations before the date of the cleanup!
