This is one of our most popular meetings every year when we get an update from Massport and TSA officials. This year we will hear from Ed Freni as well as a representative of the TSA organization. We will get updates on what’s happening at the airport and what’s coming down the road. Additionally, after the presentations, we will board buses to head over to Terminal E for a post-security tour to see the new enhancements up close and personal. Busses will return attendees to the Hilton Garden Inn at the end of the tour.
Edward C. Freni currently serves as Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) effective as of November 3, 2023. As Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Massachusetts Port Authority, Freni will oversee the $1 billion organization with more than 1,300 employees and a portfolio of transportation assets including Boston Logan International Airport, Worcester Regional Airport, Hanscom Field, Conley Container Terminal and Flynn Cruiseport Boston, as well as property in East Boston, South Boston, and Charlestown.
Freni will also continue as Massport’s Director of Aviation, a role that he has served in since 2007. As Director of Aviation, he is responsible for administering, coordinating, and managing airside and landside activities at all three Massport aviation facilities. In 2000, he joined Massport as the Director of Aviation Operations with primary responsibility for managing the airports’ daily operations, facilities, and public services.
Freni has decades of experience in the aviation industry, including at Massport and having worked for many years at American Airlines where he served as the General Manager for the airline’s Logan Airport station, with responsibility for more than 2,000 employees.
Freni received his Bachelor of Science from the Whittemore School of Business at the University of New Hampshire.
He was the Captain of the University of New Hampshire 1973-74 Championship Hockey Team.
**Massport requires us to collect personal information from all who register and wish to participate in the “behind the scenes tour” to issue a Temporary Visitors Pass. Once provided to Massport, this information will be deleted by GBTA New England.
IMPORTANT REGISTRATION DEADLINES: For online registrations received after April 26, 2024, we cannot guarantee your participation in the "behind the scenes" tour at Logan Airport after the speaker portion of the meeting. If your personal data is provided, we will request Massport to waive the April 26, 2024 deadline and notify you upon your arrival at the meeting.
