The Children's Discovery Museum with support from CTB Electronics is hosting a city-wide light celebration!REGISTER HERE: https://forms.gle/HzZUkFQzYCiyk5dD7
The Light up the town competition is open to residents and businesses of Waterville and it’s neighboring communities. Waterville, Winslow, Benton, Fairfield, Oakland, Sidney and Vassalboro.
Businesses and individuals decorate their properties with as many lights as possible. The registered parties will be part of a city-wide map for members of the community to drive or walk by each location to admire the decorations.
Once you register, you are responsible for decorating your property with as many lights and decorations as possible. The more lights the better! Once we have gathered all entries, we will compile a Light Up The Town map to distribute to the community. Please have your light display ready for November 29th, 2024(aka Black Friday), and keep your lights up all season long!
Categories. We will be judging the event in three categories this year. Business, Residential and Syncronized Residential. 1st 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be handed out for all 3 categories and announced in December. Judging will be handled by the kids in Cub Scout Pack 445.
Businesses. We are going to allow you folks to do displays inside, outside or both. We understand that you may or may not have a large storefront and we want your participation. 1st - 3rd place prizes are the ever coveted Light up the town mini blow form trophies that you can display in your business windows.
Residents. For all of you, we want only Outside displays. 1st -3rd place prizes are electronics donated by CTB Electronics. Last year CTB Electronics gave away a Flat Screen TV to first, a Sound System sound bar for 2nd and a portable bluetooth outdoor speaker system for 3rd. This years prizes will be a surprise.
Synchronized Residents. (New category this year). Displays that are sycronized to music have become somewhat popular and we wish to encourage these types of displays. To be fair we are breaking off this into it's own category. With that we recognize that these system require lots of flashing lights timed to music with a short distance low wattage FM transmitter.
Synchronized Display with low wattage, short distance Radio transmitters will need to have it's radio frequency registered with us this year. We would like to know if you are going to use them in your display for the two reasons. The first is we would like to make sure that you are not transmitting on other radio stations in the competition or other radio stations in general. Chris can help you with this if you run into problems. The second reason is we will put your radio station frequency on the map so people going through these neighborhoods can tune into your broadcast.
We encourage everyone with holiday spirit to participate!
Thank you for participating and we hope that you have fun!
If you have any questions, please contact Chris at [email protected].
**Please note, there will be no coordinated drive-by this year, but we hope to see you at the Parade of Lights**
Thank you to CTB Electronics for helping to make this event possible!
