Miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss are sad realities for many families. Through the Kalamazoo Baby Steps 5K Run/Walk & Memorial, Amos' Anchors and The Committee for Better Bereavement Care in West Michigan provide a healing annual event for the perinatal bereavement community to gather with their families to honor their babies and bring awareness to pregnancy and infant loss in Kalamazoo County.
Participants will have the opportunity to meet with local nonprofits and organizations who support the perinatal bereavement community in West Michigan and after can walk/run the 5K race course to honor their babies gone too soon due to pregnancy and infant loss. After the race, participants can stay for our brief memorial, where we will read the names of the babies remembered by race participants.
This event allows us to raise awareness for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day (October 15) and provides an opportunity for participants to connect with other people in the perinatal bereavement community and the local organizations that exist to support them.
