Minor events are the Saturday and Monday before and after the main event, in case people need these days for travel days.

WHERE

Snydermill Lodge, Park City, UT

5575 Highway 224

Park City, Utah 84098-5954

This camp is located one mile south of Kimball Junction on the way to Park City

WHO

Are you descendant - by birth or marriage - of Kendall and Bobbie Jones? This reunion is for you! We've had requests that for safety reasons for the youngers and to keep the feeling of the reunion close, to keep it family - and not a friends and family - reunion. We love and want to to get to know girl and boy friends, etc, but not this time around please.

Hello All!

Reunions are the best! Let's do it again!

Please mark your calendar, get work off, sacrifice a school day (or two) (or more if you want) (or homeschooling is an option), and pretty much make this the number one priority of 2024. Come for (re)connection, fun, and food and nourish your family tree roots.

This event is evolving and we don't have an agenda set yet, but so far here's what we've got:

Saturday:

Staying overnight? That's an option! You can come as early as 4:00, but be sure to make arrangements for your own dinner. No formal activities are planned, just come hang out!

Sunday:

  • 11:00 am arrive if not already there
  • 12:00 Lunch Potluck (bring what you like!)
  • 12:30 Welcome
  • 1:30 Group Photo
  • 3:00 wellness break
  • 3:30 family history interactive activity
  • 5:00 Discussion of future reunions
  • 6.00 Dinner—Leftover potluck
  • 7:00 Clean up

Monday:

Monday is a federal holiday and we have the lodge all day Monday as well. Fun activities are in the works! Let us know if you have suggestions. You can also stay over this night, but Amy has to have that lodge clean and ready for check out by Tuesday 11:00 am, so any offers to help are appreciated!

ideas being thrown around: custom t shirt contest (each family has their own t shirts?), bowling, kid friendly hike.....

MESSAGE TO THE FAMILY

How fortunate we are to have the family we do. We recognize all the hard work and sacrifice it takes to create a great family like ours. We are lucky to have this opportunity together!

With that in mind, we are so thankful that you have taken advantage of this upcoming opportunity to connect. We understand that people have a lot of demands, but LOVE LOVE LOVE you are making the effort to come. I’m sure your parents and grandparents feel honored by showing you up and connecting. Time with some of your family members to now limited and fleeting, so this is a special opportunity to connect. Your presence is the present!

Love and See You Soon!

DIRECTIONS

See map below. It’s a little tricky to get there and you'll want to rely on the map instead of your virtual map apps.

COST:

FREE!

On-site donations appreciated but not expected. The lodge isn't expensive to rent, but also isn't free.

FOOD:

On Sunday, we are depending on our combined potluck magical powers to feed us!

Provisions: all paper goods will be provided. Please bring a large dish, dessert, or drink (water bottles are always a hit) to share for lunch and then we will graze and have a “leftovers” dinner when the time comes. There are 2 on site refrigerators and stoves that you can use, but may be in high demand if we are all planning to use them.

Staying overnighton Saturday? Please plan on bringing your own food for snacks and breakfasts.

On Monday? TBA. Also keep in mind that there are also plenty of surrounding fast eateries by the lodge should the fancy strike you.

PROJECTED PARK CITY WEATHER CONDITIONS:

high of 65, low of 45 partly sunny/no wind & rain

ACCOMODATIONS/INCLUSIONS:

Handicap Accommodations

While it may be easy to drop off at the door and access the main floor (where we are gathering for the day - bathroom available), sadly Snydermill was built before handicap regulations were in place so accessing the lower level (where the bunk rooms are) would be problematic.

Parking

See map. There is general parking in the upper parking lot just below the lodge with a short walk (with a slight incline and then stairs) to the lodge. You can drop people off at the door, but cannot park at the entrance as there is only space for 2-3 cars.

Overnight Indoor Lodging

If you need overnight accommodations (let's face it, lodging together is kind of the best part of a reunion!), you are more than welcome! Even though this indoor lodge is in Park City, it's very basic and bare bones. Think 1980 stake center made into a lodge....very down to earthy. While the 10,000 sq. feet. is plenty of room to gather and connect, the dorm style bunk rooms with foam mattresses leave something to be desired. There are dorm style restrooms with showers, a large multipurpose room with piano, and a large well-equipped kitchen.

Overnight Outdoor Lodging:

*Want to camp or RV? Since there was no demand for it last time around, I did not reserve the RV sites, campground and campsites or bowery, so unfortunately there's no camping option.

What to Bring

  • There are plenty of folding chairs, but if you'd like something more comfy bring a camp chair.
  • Personal Water Bottle.
  • Jacket. As the sun sets it may get chilly.
  • Your pot luck item and any food above and beyond that you may personally want.
  • IF YOU ARE STAYING OVERNIGHT please bring your own bedding ie pillow, blankets/sleeping bag. While the bunks have pads on them (that many like to stack), that’s all they have. Feel free to bring a blow up bed if you’d like.
  • Also consider bringing ear plugs in case your roommates snore or outside noise is loud.

What you will learn and gain

  • love
  • laughter
  • mystery pot luck items - what will Brandon or Derek bring??? will it be one of those "this looks pasta, but it's really cake" situations?
  • a great time
  • family history

But what are you REALLY getting?

  • a deep sense of connection with loved ones - past and present - that will last indefinitely
  • increased self esteem from being told how beautiful and amazing and loved you are

Are you unsure?

Are you feeling that….

  • My family barely knows me, and I've heard that Amy has a bullhorn and likes to make things awkward?
  • I'm not a cookie cutter replica of what I think everyone else will be, so I'll feel uncomfortable? (there may be trained professionals on site to help you with this logical fallacy projection, if desired)
  • It's not in my budget?
  • I hear Keather likes to steal phones and post inappropriate things on your social media that will get you in trouble at work. I'm scared?
  • It’s a time commitment you’re not sure you can afford?

Don’t worry. We all have some barrier to coming, but please bust through that barrier! We want and need you there! Also, just put a passcode on your phone that weekend.

Just come! You'll be happy you did.

Snydermill Directions

This camp is located one mile south of Kimball Junction on the way to Park City

Take I-80 up Parley's Canyon until you get to Kimball Junction (Freeway Exit 224). Take a right off the freeway.

You will go through 3 stop lights. You will pass the Bear Hollow Drive stoplight (that goes to the outlet shops and McDonald’s), the entrance to the Utah Winter Sports Park, and take the next right at the Bear Hollow Condominiums. Stay right after the turn, and go through the marked gate ON THE RIGHT towards Snydermill Lodge. Follow the road up the road. If you’re going to get turned around, this is the step that people get turned around on.

If you desire shuttle service, follow the road until you get to the Lower Parking Lot, which is located close to the caretaker's home. Park here, text 702-335-9002 and someone will come get you to take you directly up to the Lodge.

Otherwise, there is an Upper Parking Lot, from which you can access the Lodge on foot. There is a turn-off from the main road, before you get to the Lower Parking Lot. Take this turn; follow to the Upper Lot; park; and follow the path up to the Lodge (see map).
