2024 GREEN RIVER MARATHON, RELAY, & HALF MARATHON AND 50KSaturday, June 1st, 2024
This will be our 28th year for hosting this event!!!
Runners are self-timed. Please remember to bring a watch or GPS app/device to track your own time.
Check in with your $20 donation and start any time from 5:15AM to 9AM.
The finish line closes at 2 PM. Runners reaching the finish line after 2PM can email finish times to:

Please take care of your restroom needs before arriving because the City of Kent tends to be erratic with regard to unlocking the restroom doors at the start line. A Starbucks restroom is about 5 minute drivetime away.

Our event is a donation-based race benefiting Northwest Harvest. Your donations will be matched and matched again so that a donation of $20.00 will become $80.00. Also, if racers care to donate more than the initial $20.00, it will be sincerely welcomed.
ZELLE
Racers have the option of pre-paying a $20 donation via ZELLE (https://www.zellepay.com/) to Steve Barrick at [email protected].
If you wish to run our race as a virtual race, please donate via ZELLE and forward a screenshot of your GPS app finish time and distance with your registration email to the race director. Virtual racers can complete their race distance on any date before the official race date.
REGISTRATION
To register, runners need to email the race director Steve Barrick at [email protected] and supply the following information:
- State whether you want to run to the half, full, or 50K. …Or have created a relay team.
- First and last name (Include relay members if you have a relay team.)
- City, State
- Date of Birth
- Age on June 1st 2024
- Gender
- Best Full or Half Marathon time
- Predicted Full or Half Marathon time

PLEASE NOTE: In previous years people had serious difficulty finding the start location via smartphone GPS app. If you want to avoid frustration, please copy and print the following travel instructions.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS
~ FROM I-5
1 - Take Exit 152 onto Orillia Rd (not onto S 188th St)
2 - Go downhill toward the Kent Valley on Orillia Rd
3 - After about a half mile, take the first available left onto S 200th St
4 - After another half mile you will cross the Green River and take an immediate right onto 58th Pl S
5 - Follow 58th Pl S a short distance into the parking lot area. The check-in table is under a large picnic shelter near the trail.
~ FROM HWY 167
1 - Take the S 212th St Exit (WinCo exit) and go west (not uphill) onto S 212th St.
2 - Go about 3.5 miles completely across the Kent Valley on S 212th St and further as it continues uphill as Orillia Rd S (If you reach I-5, you have gone about a half mile too far.)
3 - Take a right onto S 200th St.
4 - After about a half mile you will cross the Green River and take an immediate right onto 58th Pl S
5 - Follow 58th Pl S a short distance into the parking lot. The sign-in table is under a large picnic shelter near the trail.
SUGGESTED START TIMES (start times are completely flexible)
9:00 AM: Half Marathoners and Marathoners who will finish under 5 hours.
8:00 AM: Half Marathoners, Marathoners, and 50K runners who will finish under 6 hours.
7:00 AM: Marathoners and 50K runners who will finish in under 7 hours.
6:00 AM: Marathoners and 50K runners who will finish in under 8 hours.
5:15 AM: Marathoners and 50K runners who need more than 8 hours.
Runners needing more than 8 hours and 45 minutes can arrive before 5:15 AM, self-start, and self-report finish times. Runners who arrive at the finish line after 2 PM can email results to: [email protected]
PARKING and RIDESHARING
Ample parking is at or near the start line. You are welcome to use our main discussion area to network ride sharing with other runners.
COURSES
~ HALF MARATHON
The half marathon is an out-and-back course that is run twice. The turnaround is 3.28 miles south of the the start/finish. The course starts at 3 Friends Fishing Hole and heads south along the Green River Trial.
~ FULL MARATHON
The full marathon is the same as the half marathon except that it consists of 4 out-and-backs instead of 2 out-and-backs.
~ 50K
The 50K will be the same as the full marathon plus an additional 2.4 mile out-and-back.
No volunteers will be monitoring the course. However, the course is extremely well marked with orange arrows spray painted on the pavement with impermanent paint. Please remember to keep your attention on the course markings and do not follow the person in front of you. There will be plenty of people on the course who will not be race participants. The person you follow might take you off course.
COURSE SUPPORT
Water and Gatorade will be at the start/finish line such that replenishment is available every 6.55 miles. No cups will be supplied. Please carry your own water bottle(s) and/or Camelbak plus any nutritional supplies you require.
RESTROOMS – There are restrooms at the start line and 1.5 miles south of the start at Van Doran’s Landing Park such that restrooms are available at miles 0, 1.5, 5, 6.5, 8, 11.5, 13, 14.5, 18, 19.5, 21, 24.5, 26, 27.5 and 29.5
Restrooms at the start should open at 8 AM.
Restrooms Van Doran’s Park should be opened by 6:40 AM.
Be forewarned: The city of Kent tends to be erratic as far as when they open the public restrooms at the start line. It is best to take care of your restroom needs before you arrive at the start.

Our events are friendly to all levels of participants and have no special restrictions. You should only bring a dog if it is well behaved.

Green River Marathon Series events and all its volunteers are not responsible for any injuries or deaths. Our runs are a free runs. The course aid is free, the run is free and no one is paid. This is a low key run amongst friends. If you require special assistance or are unsure of your abilities, please think twice about running our events and take necessary precautions. You must have medical clearance from your doctor before you begin any exercise program or running in any long-distance events. It is not our intent for anyone to get hurt while running our events.
