About this Event
In its seventh year, The Florida Summit on Accelerating Transfer Success is a networking and workgroup forum where transfer professionals can gather, promote, share, and exchange the best strategies, techniques, and tools for transfer student success. This unique opportunity is a showcase for transfer professionals to take back actionable and impactful ideas designed for the most engaging experiences for transfer students.
The Florida Summit intentionally balances the best practices of sending and receiving institutions. This year’s theme is Successful Pathways, which gives presenters and attendees a chance to promote the most innovative collaborations in one of the nation's best states for higher education value. This year's Florida Summit Keynote Speaker is Dr. Allison Kedlac, Author, Senior Partner, and Co-Founder of Sova!

We are also currently accepting proposals for education sessions in the following topic areas:
- A dvocate: Content spotlighting how state and federal policy informs our work, and how institutions work to align their goals with legislative requirements to continue to advance transfer student success.
- Challenge: Content showcasing creative approaches to recruiting and retaining faculty and staff, and how those strategies impact students and their relationships with higher education professionals.
- Coaching and Advising: Content highlighting the differences in the two roles, recruiting, and retaining advising and coaching talent, and innovations in program deployment.
- Collaborate: Content that fosters robust collaborations and partnerships across institutions that grow meaningful relationships and consistent actionable philosophies.
- Educate: Content to deepen our understanding of structural challenges and new strategies for access and successful pathways.
- Organize: Content related to stronger networks, fostering engagement & building capacity.
- Technology: Content showcasing advancement in technology in degree auditing, articulation, and curriculum alignment improving students’ post-secondary journey.

Featured Keynote Speaker: Dr. Allison Kedlac, Author, Senior Partner, and Co-Founder of Sova!
Alison Kadlec is passionate about leveling the playing field for today’s students.
Over the last 20 years, Alison has worked deeply with systems and institutions in more than half the states in the U.S. to help leaders at every level strengthen the will and skill required for genuinely student-focused reform of policy and practice at scale. Alison also leads work with state policymakers and regional coalitions to improve the quality of policy design and implementation planning. From coordinating statewide work to providing one-on-one executive coaching, Alison works at multiple levels to help people strengthen their resolve and capacity to lead real student-focused change.
Before co-founding Sova, Alison was a Senior Vice President at Public Agenda where she led higher education and workforce projects focused on elevating student voice, improving faculty engagement in guided pathways, and helping institutions collaborate across boundaries on student-focused innovation. Alison began her career as a visiting professor in a variety of four-year university settings in Minnesota and New York, and she credits most of her skills to the years she spent bartending to fund her education and supplement her adjunct salary.
Alison is the author of a book about the enduring relevance of John Dewey and has published in a variety of settings inside and outside higher ed on topics ranging from public deliberation to the public purposes of play. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Minnesota and a BA from Michigan State University in Political Theory, Constitutional Democracy, and English Literature. She lives and works on Anishinaabek land in Northwest Michigan, where she’s learning about life from her family, her community, and nature.
