LOCATION & ACCOMMODATION
The ALPCA Lone Star Region is proud to invite ALPCA members throughout Texas and beyond to its 2024 Fall Swap Meet, to be held in the old VFW Hall of the VFW Bell Post 1820, located at 3302 Airport Rd. (TX-53) in Temple, Texas. Temple is a city of about 82,000 located on I-35 about thirty-five (35) miles south of Waco, and about sixty-five (65) miles north of Austin.
There are plenty of conveniently located lodging options along I-35 on the north side of Temple between exits 302 (Nugent Ave) and 301 (Central Ave/Adams Ave).
SCHEDULE & INFORMATION
The doors will open at 8 AM Saturday with coffee and doughnuts. The meet site will be in the old VFW Hall building, which is the building behind the main (newer) VFW Hall building. All displays must be freestanding or able to lean against the walls. We are not allowed to attach anything to the walls. Lunch will be provided at no cost to meet attendees between 11:30 AM and noon. After lunch, there will be a brief business meeting with our annual review of Region positions (President, Treasurer and Sergeant-at-Arms) and awards, followed by a donation auction. *Interested candidates for elected Region positions or who wish to have their vote counted in a Region election should make it a point to attend this particular meet.* Donations are encouraged, either at the meet or beforehand. Those who wish to send donations beforehand can send them to Jim Palmer (#1779), Treasurer. Contact him at treas(at)alpcalonestar(dot)org. Awards will be for Best of Show (for a display of two or more plates), Best Plate (for a single item) and Long Distance.

DIRECTIONS
The VFW Hall is on the northwest side of Temple on Airport Rd. which is also TX-53. Our venue is located on the north (right) side of Airport Rd. (TX-53), set back from the highway a bit with a large parking lot in front. There is a red on white sign in front saying “VFW Bell Post 1820”. The driveway for the VFW Hall is right next to the Best-Way Carpets building, between it and the VFW Hall. If you miss the driveway, continue down the hill past the VFW Hall and turn onto an asphalt drive. This will loop around back behind the main VFW Hall building and directly in front of the meet site building.
COMING FROM EITHER THE NORTH OR SOUTH (I-35): Take exit 301 from I-35 and go west on TX-53. Just past the I-35 S frontage road, the westbound road forks with FM-2305 (W Adams Ave.) going left and TX-53 going right. Bear right onto TX-53 (Airport Rd). Follow TX-53 (Airport Rd.) for about a mile towards Draughton-Miller Airport. Watch for a Dollar General, then the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home and Best-Way Carpets. The VFW Hall is immediately after Best-Way Carpets, about a mile west of I-35. There is a huge white water tower with the Temple city logo painted on it almost directly across the highway from the VFW Hall.
