Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) is a dynamic, informative and hands-on training for adult leaders in the Troop and Crew. While it is required for SM/ASMs, ALL LEADERS and parents camping with their units are encouraged to attend to ensure your unit has effective outdoor leadership. You will learn and practice the patrol method of Scouting. You will also learn introductory skills such as lashing & knots, cooking, first aid, map and compass, backpacking, leave no trace and fire-building. Planning campouts and locating resources will also be covered. This is a very informative and FUN weekend - ask your fellow Scouters who have attended! ***IOLS is REQUIRED training for Scoutmasters/Asst. Scoutmasters, and recommended for all adult leaders and parents who camp with their Scout - including Venturing Advisors and Assoc. Advisors. All districts and councils are welcome to attend.
