2024 Faculty Idea Exchange (FIX) - Higher Ed Teaching Conference

The Columbus State Faculty Idea Exchange (FIX) is an annual summer conference hosted by the CSCC Instructional Success Committee (ISC) that provides a forum where college educators from Central Ohio and beyond can share and compare best teaching practices.

FIX 2024 is scheduled for June 7, 2024 from 8:30 am - 1:30 pm at the Columbus State Community College WD Conference Center.

We are excited to announce that this year’s keynote and plenary speaker is Dr. Todd Zakrajsek, a dynamic speaker and author of the successful book "Dynamic Lecturing", which advises faculty on how to create a motivating, creative and engaging classroom community. Dr. Zakrajsek currently directs five Lilly Conferences on College and University Teaching, and sits on two educationally related boards and several editorial boards for journals in the area of teaching and learning. He is an international speaker who is requested regularly for keynote presentations and campus workshops, having published and presented widely on the topic of effective teaching and student learning.

In addition to the featured speaker, breakout sessions focusing on student success and best teaching practices will be presented by faculty and other education experts from higher-ed institutions of Central Ohio (and beyond).

Who is FIX for? The FIX conference is geared towards college educators who are looking for innovative ideas to improve classroom success.

Where can I see the program/schedule of presentations? The conference program is in digital format. COMING SOON!

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? The COTA CMAX rapid transit route runs along Cleveland Avenue from Downtown to Polaris and includes stops at Columbus State. Please check the COTA website for available bus routes to Columbus State. Visitors may register their license plates and pay for parking by using the Parking.com app or any of the methods available on the lot signage. Will lunch be provided? No. Unlike previous years, the event costs, state budget limitations, and free registration prevents us from providing lunch at FIX 2024. However, the schedule has been adjusted so that the conference is completed by lunch time. That said, there are plenty of food options in the immediate area, including a Subway next door and other downtown restuarants and coffee shops.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? Upon registering for the event, you can show your printed ticket, show your QR code via your mobile device, or simply give your name.
