The annual Evidence Based Clinical Practice Research Symposium has a rich tradition at Daemen University. This event showcases our third professional year Doctor of Physical Therapy students as they present their capstone research projects in a 30 minute platform format. The event is the culmination of three semesters of clinical research coursework with a faculty mentor including formulating a research question, completing a comprehensive analysis of the clinical literature, developing an appropriate method to investigate their research question, writing a human subjects review proposal that was submitted and approved by the University’s Institutional Review Board, data collection and analyses, preparation of a manuscript suitable for submission to a scientific journal and the platform presentation at the Research Symposium. The symposium is open to family, friends, students and clinicians and has been extremely well attended in the past. Physical therapists who attend the event may earn 4 contact hours of continuing medical education that is approved through the New York State Board of Physical Therapy.
Cost is $10.00 with a portion of the proceeds going to the Daemen University Student Research Fund.
This event is FREE as a thank you to clinicians who serve as Clinical Instructors for our Daemen PT students.
