About this Event

We're excited to be recruiting pace leaders for our upcoming East Nasty 2024 Half Marathon and Marathon training series, and we want you!

You've found this registration page because you've decided to volunteer your time, knowledge, and high energy to co-leading a designated pace group for our free spring training. We're glad you're here and want to know a bit more about you, so we can be sure to set you and potential trainees up for success.

While we are still in the early stages of planning, we will begin our training on Saturday, January 13, 2024, continuing through April 27, 2023, which is the Rock 'n' Roll Nashville race day. Training runs will be scheduled for every Saturday at 8:00 am for the half and 7:00a (most weeks) for the full, with starting locations at various spots across town.

Haven't been a pacer before and want to know what you're in for? Here's the rundown:

We ask that our pacers are comfortable running at their assigned pace (or a bit faster), and are confident in their ability to stick to the assigned training pace for their group throughout the training program. Ideally, as a pacer, you will have completed a few races at the goal race finish time or faster.

We ask our pacers to make the commitment to be present and engaged with trainees on Saturday morning runs, as well as leading participants on race day during the actual RnR race on April 27. The pacer commitment is to help your trainees meet their goals on race day, knowing that your race finish time will match their goals, and not necessarily your own personal best.

You will be paired by pace with other coaches in groups of two or three. This will provide a pacer and a sweeper for each group and also provide additional coverage in case you need to miss a run.

You will be responsible for encouraging your group and leading them to a finish at or near the assigned time. Remember that training runs are generally slower than race pace (at least :60 slower). We also ask that our pacers share important tips and tricks, as well as positive encouragement along the way!

And above all, keep it easy breezy and fun! While every runner has a day or run they're dreading, we know that strength in numbers keeps the motivation high!

While we will cover additional pacer expectations prior to training start, we want to be sure we capture your desired pace times and contact info by completing this registration!

We will schedule a pacers' meeting before training starts. This will be a great time to meet one another, meet your coaching team, share best practices, and ask any questions you may have.

If you have not already, please go like our Facebook page. We will post updates and important information there often.

Thank you so much for volunteering to be a pacer! We will be in contact with you within the coming weeks to discuss more details on the program!
