About this Event

Irish Books for Screen 2024 - Members Only Event

As the demand for motion picture and television content continues to grow, studios and film producers are increasingly turning to book publishers and authors for material. The 2024 Irish Books for Screen event will take place on Friday, November 8th, in Dublin Castle, followed by a drinks reception.
This event, organised by Publishing Ireland in collaboration with the Screen Directors’ Guild of Ireland, is for members only. It offers an excellent opportunity for publishers to pitch key titles to a diverse audience from the film industry.
We are inviting not only directors but also producers and screenwriters—these are the essential individuals who drive the creation of everything from high-budget feature films and television specials to series for RTÉ, TV3, TG4, and platforms like Netflix. They are interested in fiction and nonfiction (including documentaries) for audiences of all ages. These Irish storytellers are eager for our stories! While many arts sectors are experiencing slowdowns, the film industry continues to seek fresh material for future projects, making this an unmissable opportunity.
Each participating publisher can pitch two to three titles during five-minute slots. The complete collection of pitches will be circulated beyond the event room, reaching Irish film industry professionals worldwide—another great way to extend the visibility of your books.
The event will begin with an introduction to the SDGI members, followed by pitches from Publishing Ireland members. If you would like to participate, please register your place using the link below.
This is a genuine opportunity to connect with the individuals who bring stories to screens, both large and small, in Ireland and internationally.
