Event Overview

As we enter the pioneering AI era of 2024, the job landscape for IT practitioners in Australia is rapidly evolving. To address these changes, the JR Academy has organized a special offline lecture titled "2024 BNE IT Community Meetup——AI & IT Career" aimed at discussing the pressing questions: "How to enter various fields of AI work?", "What are the new trends in the Australian IT industry in 2024?", "The demand for IT talent by large local companies", "Is AI a challenge or an opportunity for IT practitioners?", "AI whit Human in the loop".

We are honored to have invited many distinguished guests, including Professor Xue Li, professor of the School of Information Technology at the University of Queensland. Speaker：Professor Xue Li, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science The University of Queensland, Australia.

Dr Xue Li is a Professor at the School of Information Technology, at the University of Queensland in Australia. Dr Xue Li’s work on Big Data Analytics has attracted wide attention. For example, he was listed as one of 50 “The Most Powerful People in Australia" on Big Data by the Financial Review - the Power Issue 2015; the Microsoft Start-Up Q Award 2014, Winner of the Best Use of Open Data – QLD Premier’s Awards for Open Data 2014. His research interests are in database management, machine learning, and intelligent information systems. He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Advanced Internet of Things. He has over 200 publications as monographs, edited books, book chapters, and journal and conference papers. His Google h-Index is 54, with 9,600 citations. He has successfully supervised more than PhD students to graduation as their principal supervisor.

He has worked as a senior analyst and group manager in top American investment banks in Sydney, managing operations across fund custody, derivative trades, and fund transactions. Later, he took a senior analyst role at another major investment bank, overseeing fund operations and strategic transitions with clients like China Investment Corporation and AXA, with managed assets over $4 trillion. He initiated Australia's first investment banking training and headhunting service, placing over 500 individuals annually in top banks, including UBS and Morgan Stanley. He is the founder of Career Mentor Consulting, working with over 50 Fortune 500 companies in Australia and China, with a decade of experience in international headhunting.
