The walk kicks off around 10 a.m.
Two walks, one day - two locations:
* Wilmington at Brandywine Park, North Park Drive, near Brandywine Zoo and Josephine Fountain.
* Rehoboth Beach at Grove Park, at the intersection of Columbia Avenue and Grove Street, near the Visitor's Center and Rehoboth Beach Museum.
This year, we celebrate AIDS Walk Delaware and International Peace Day, recognizing that one of the pillars of International Peace Day is Good Health and Well-Being. To honor this, we walk and raise funds to support those living with HIV, ensuring they receive the necessary medication and treatment for their physical and mental well-being. AIDS Walk Delaware aims to advance HIV awareness, eliminate stigma, and promote HIV-informed community health throughout Delaware.
The event seeks to raise $100,000 to support vital services such as medical case management, free HIV testing, mental health counseling, education and prevention programs, and housing services. Additionally, we aim to provide education on HIV and PrEP to prevent further cases, empowering people with the knowledge to protect themselves and others. By bringing together over 600 participants and volunteers, the event highlights the ongoing need for HIV prevention and support while fostering a sense of community and solidarity in the fight against HIV.
