Calling all little adventurers! The Adventure-Cross is the ultimate race for 4-6 year olds with boundless energy. Run, stride and pedal through an epic course filled with obstacles. This is a race of endurance over a longer period of time and skill a lot like a Cyclocross race! It will be a somewhat challenging race, so please be sure that your racer is up for this challenge!This race is only for ages 4-6 years old on the Strider 14x bike. The race is broken up into three different classes depending on age - each age class will race separately for three races total. No Strider 12" Balance Bikes are allowed due to the nature of this race.
NOTE: This is different from the "Strider Cup" races for toddlers on 12" bikes and 14x balance bikes happening earlier the same day, on the same course. The Strider Adventure-Cross race kicks off right after!
Pre-register online for the 4, 5 and 6-year-old classes before September 12 at 11:59 PM MDT. No sign-ups will be accepted after the deadline or on race day, so don't wait! Only one racer is allowed to register per form. To register multiple racers repeat the registration process for each racer.
Stage 1: Racers run one lap (no bike).
Stage 2: Parent hands off the balance bike for one lap at the Pit Stop. (Balance Mode)
Stage 3: Another Pit Stop where a parent or guardian attaches the pedal kit.
Stage 4: Racers pedal one lap to the finish line! (Pedal Mode)
Pit Stop Info: A parent will be assigned a spot to attach the pedal kit when the racer finishes the balance bike portion. Once attached, racers continue in pedal mode for the final lap. Make sure to practice attaching the pedal kit before race day!
The course is packed with obstacles where racers might need to lift their bikes to keep going. It could take 15-20 minutes to complete, and awards are based on laps and finishing order.
Our races will be on September 14 at Main Street Square in downtown Rapid City, SD. We will have the following tentative schedule for the Strider Cup and Adventure-Cross:
Friday Schedule:
3:00 PM - 7:00 PM - Packet Pickup & Tech Inspection at Strider Bikes HQ - 2221 N. Plaza Drive Rapid City, SD 57702
Saturday Schedule:
8:00 AM - 2:00 PM - Packet Pickup & Tech Inspection
8:00 - 8:45 AM - Open Track
9:00 - 11:00 AM - 2-Year-Old Class (12" Bikes)
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM - 4-Year-Old Class (12" Bikes & 14x Bikes in Balance Mode)
12:00 - 1:00 PM - Lunch Break
1:00 - 2:30 PM - 3-Year-Old Class (12" Bikes & 14x Bikes in Balance Mode)
3:00 - 4:00 PM - Strider Adventure-Cross Race (4, 5 & 6 Year Olds - 14x Bikes in Balance & Pedal Mode)
All racers will receive either a trophy or a medal depending upon their finishing place, along with an exclusive Strider Cup - Rapid City racing jersey, a souvenir number plate and a bunch of cool items in their registration bag! Trophies will be presented immediately after finishing each age groups race. Medals can be claimed at anytime during the course of the event.
Pets - No pets are allowed for their safety and the racers. Service animals are welcome.
Parking - There is a parking garage located at Main Street Square. Enter off of 5th street, as the entrance on 6th street will be closed. It's free after 5:00 PM, on all holidays and weekends.
Tickets purchased via Eventbrite, you'll get an email confirmation with a link to print your e-tickets. Bring either the printout or show the confirmation email at packet pickup. This rain-or-shine event is non-refundable and tickets can't be replaced or transferred to another race!
