SAR members and invited guest are welcome to join us for the 2024 2nd Quarter Meeting held at the historic Pittsburgh Golf Club on Sunday June 2, 2024 at 11:30 am. The Pittsburgh Golf Club was created by some of Pittsburgh’s leading citizens living in the East End for their own pleasure and for the pleasure of their families and friends. They wanted a “place like home” with manners, language and décor that made them feel “ at home.”
Jason Cherry, author of the new book Pittsburgh’s Lost Outpost: Captain Trent’s Fort, will give a presentation on his book.
Mr. Cherry is a native of Butler, Pennsylvania and graduate of the University of Massachusetts. He has reenacted the French and Indian War for over thirty years portraying the group of volunteers hired under William Trent Jr in 1754, a unit known as Captain William Trent's Company. He also has conducted over forty speaking engagements on William Trent's role in Pennsylvania and New Jersey during the eighteenth century throughout the Eastern United States.
Currently, Mr. Cherry is the "research consultant" for the William Trent House in Trenton, NJ and works as an Assistant Group Supervisor for Stepping Stones Children's Center in Gibsonia, PA.
His first nonfiction book "Pittsburgh's Lost Outpost: Captain Trent's Fort" was published in 2019 and his latest biography "William Trent: Factor of Ambition" was published in the spring of 2024.
