The long-standing tradition of model trains and the holiday season will be celebrated with the annual Holiday Spectacular and Christmas Train Show sponsored by the Garden State Central Model Railroad Club, Inc. at the InfoAge Science and History Museums in Wall, NJ. Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for children. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for Toys For Tots and receive 50% off admission.
The family-oriented, multi-room display features a variety of model railroad layouts presented in a festive atmosphere. The trains range from the smallest scales up to large garden-railroad varieties and include a number of hands-on layouts where visitors can run the models themselves.
Garden State Central President Thom Radice of Long Branch said, “The holiday show is our chance to share the magic of model trains and the joy of the holiday season. By partnering with Toys for Tots, we are able to transport that warmth and cheer to local families who need it most.”
In addition to the many trains, the event features visits with Santa and a snackbar. Admission includes access to the entire Info InfoAge Science and History Museums campus which includes exhibits of military vehicles, shipwreck artifacts, vintage radios, historic computers and the large permanent HO scale model railroad.
“This a train show unlike any other,” noted Garden Central Trustee Rob Davis of Red Bank. “Not only are there dozens of trains to see, the opportunity for kids to run some of the trains themselves brings a whole new level of enjoyment. Add in the Army tanks, sunken artifacts and other elements of the InfoAge museums, and it’s truly a full afternoon for the whole family at one of New Jersey’s best kept secrets.”
The Holiday Spectacular and Christmas Train Show takes place at the InfoAge Science and History Museums, 2201 Marconi Road in Wall, NJ. The exhibit is handicap accessible.
The 2023 show runs Noon-5pm Dec 2 &3, 9 & 10, and 16 & 17.
