The 11th annual 2023 I.C.E. event will provide a holistic environment where learning will take place through a series of relevant seminars, workshops, field trips, and cultural activities.I.C.E. was first implemented during the summer of 2013, about eighteen months after the implementation of the Project M.O.S.T. program on March 1, 2012. The two-week I.C.E. initiative was intended to serve as a means of keeping students from the newly formed M.O.S.T. program engaged in two weeks of intense activities to prevent the likelihood of them dropping out of school over the summer months. The students were excited and motivated to bond with each other. They participated in activities that focused on life skills development, personal growth, entrepreneurship, leadership, and fatherhood development as well as confidence-building and self-efficacy.Due to the upsurge of COVID-19 cases, last year’s series was held online in a virtual platform. However, this year we plan to meet face to face. We view this as an opportunity to try an innovative approach of sharing information as well as creating an awareness of the possible impact it will have on our students’ retention and graduation efforts. We hope to enhance their understanding of the ramifications of this tremendous paradigm shift. In effect, the new normal our students now face is back to the renewed natural and indeed is a part of the 4th Industrial Revolution.Fortunately, Juneteenth 2023 falls within the two-week schedule for I.C.E. 2023. Therefore, there will be a campus-wide celebration and the public is invited to take part in this newly designated federal holiday! The event will be live streamed to all of Southwest's campus and centers to accommodate those who are unable to travel. JOIN IN THE CELEBRATION!!
