100 Black Men of Philadelphia, Inc. is committed to the intellectual development of the youth and economic empowerment of the African-American community. Improving the financial education of the youth at an early age will economically empower individual. families, whole communities, and entire regions to succeed financially.

HANDS ON BANKING (6th - 12th grades) Students participating in this program will:

  • a. Have mentoring services provided that focus on the Economic Empowerment pillar
  • b. Increase their understanding of financial literacy and key terms
  • c. Understand the importance of making good financial choices
  • d. Interact with those in the field of finance and banking
  • e. Shark Tank Business Pitch Competition: Youth will be tasked to create a startup business model. The Idea Lab will be modeled off the hit series, Shark Tank. Youth will determine the consumer needs of their community and create a business model to address these needs. Youth will be challenged to become social Entrepreneurs. (LOCAL CASH PRIZES! & National Savings Account Match to $100 for up to 15 youth)

IMPORTANT: Students may only participate in a single financial program in this offering.

  2. Saturday 2/5 (1 pm - 2 pm) Earning Money
  3. Saturday 2/19 (1 pm - 2 pm) Spending Smart
  4. Saturday 3/5 (1 pm - 2 pm) Save, Invest and Build Wealth
  5. Saturday 3/19 (1 pm - 2 pm) All About Credit
  6. Saturday 4/2 (1 pm - 2 pm) School and Money
  7. Saturday 4/16 (1 pm - 2 pm) High School Assessment

BENEFITS

  • Matching gift stipends up to $100 will be provided to 15 students who open their first savings account during the program
  • $50 StockPile.com accounts to 1st 20 students to successfully complete the program

  • H.S. Seniors eligible to apply to 100 Black Men of America National Scholarships (must attend 2/5/2022 and 2/9/2022 session)
