The Colorado Wing has been asked to provide support CAP personnel (cadet and senior) to man a rope line boundary on the east side of Falcon Stadium. This boundary is designed to prevent spectators from entering the designated “no go” area for the Thunderbirds air show. Last year we did not interact with any other spectators during the show. We will monitor the area “just in case”. We will monitor the rope line and advise anyone who attempts to enter the secure area that entry is not allowed. We advise ONLY – no confrontations! If anyone fails to heed our advisories, we will notify AF Security Forces and they will deal with the problem. We will be in constant communication contact with Security Forces using their communication network. At the end of the graduation ceremony, the Thunderbirds air show will begin at noon.
This is a unique opportunity for CAP to participate in a high visibility event. We will have the “best seat in the house” for the Thunderbirds air show and will be the closest spectators to the show line. We will be almost under the air show and will be up close and personal to a lot of very loud, very fast F16’s.
Since this will be a school day for most cadets, start now in making your arrangements to participate.
This is an outdoor event and volunteers should be prepared for at least six hours of duty; all personnel will need to bring the following equipment:
BRING:
ABU/BDU uniform
High visibility safety vest
Water bottle/hydration pack
Snacks
Money - We may stop for food on the way back
Camp chair
Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Signed CAP Form 60-80 permission slip
CAP Form 160-161 for all personnel
ISR radio
DATE: Wednesday, May 25th, 2021
TIME: 7a - 3p
- Depart 5:45a - return when we are done, around 4p. (Transportation for HCS members is pending based on RSVPs)
If you wish to volunteer, please email 1st Lt Tami Clements and see "COWG EMAIL - CAP ACTIVITY - US AIR FORCE ACADEMY GRADUATION CEREMONY - MAY 25" Announcement on the HCS website for the link to sign up.
The Colorado Wing has been supporting USAFA for this event for years, and this is an opportunity to serve and also have the best view of an air show possible. I look forward to receiving your replies and thank you in advance for volunteering. Updates will be forthcoming, and please feel free to address your questions to me at any time.
