What could be more fun than a stroll through a cemetery by lantern light? Won’t you join us for our annual Lantern Tours? The “eternal residents” of the Sacramento Historic City Cemetery are more alive than you might think – and they have stories to tell.
Enjoy a guided tour through the cemetery after the sun goes down. Listen to stories of these residents’ lives and their, sometimes, abrupt demise. Savor the crisp night air of an autumn evening and share a greeting with a passing spirit – if you dare.
Tours begin every half hour between 7:00 and 9:30 pm and last about one hour. We invite you to arrive 15-30 minutes before your tour to “get into the spirit”: play a game, take a photo with one of our costumed volunteers, and perhaps encounter a wandering spirit.
The tour is suggested for ages 12 and over.
Dog friendly, no.
Wheelchair accessible, yes.
No alcohol or smoking allowed on premises.
Tours are given by lantern and flashlight. You may want to bring a flashlight of your own. The pathway may be uneven. Appropriate footwear is recommended. The event is not likely to be canceled due to rain.
