About this Event
TOURS AVAILABLE ON THE 3rd SATURDAY OF THE MONTH IN MAY, JUNE AND JULY.
PLEASE SEE FAQ SECTION FOR COVID-19 DETAILS.
Aimed at Frank Lloyd Wright enthusiasts, designers, and people with technical/architectural backgrounds or interests, this tour is an expanded version of our regular Affleck House tour, with an opportunity afterward to engage in more discussion with our docents about Frank Lloyd Wright, Usonian design and architecture in general. Because of the additional content, the length of this tour is approximately 75 to 90 minutes.
The first Frank Lloyd Wright-designed house to be built in the Detroit metropolitan area, the Gregor S. & Elizabeth B. Affleck House represents one of the finest examples of the architect’s Usonian style, the last great period of Wright’s career. Designed to exist in harmony with the home’s site and nature, the Affleck House was a part of Wright’s attempt to meet the need for low-cost housing for the average American.
Ticket cost is $45.00. Ticket sales will end two days prior to the tour date.
