****NO GLASS BOTTLES IN THE LOCKER ROOMS, NO ALCOHOL ON THE BENCH****
- INTERMEDIATE SKILL LEVEL -
• Game Allotment: 1-hour games.
• 4 Games per team.
• Gameplay: 5-minute warmup. 3 periods of 20-minute run clock. Clock will stop in third period if score is within two goals and clock is under 2 minutes.
• Qualifying round scoring: 2 points for a win, 0 points for a loss.
• Tiebreakers for qualifying rounds: head-to-head, total number of female goals, goals-against, penalty minutes, earliest goal in first game of tournament play, and coin toss.
• Time Outs: One 30 second timeout per team in each game.
• TIED GAMES: All qualifying rounds will consist of a 3-on-3 shootout with one of the 3 being female. If tied after 3 shooters, the shootout will continue with single player rounds with remainder of bench until there is a winner. No player may shoot twice until all players on the team with the fewest players have shot AND all eligible female players have shot. Championship Round – 5 minute 3-on-3 overtime followed by a 5-person shootout. If tied after 5 shooters, the shootout will continue with single player rounds with remainder of bench until there is a winner.
• Female players: 1 female player shall be on the ice at all times (excluding the goalie) unless there is a female player in the penalty box. Female players cannot serve a penalty for a fellow player or a bench minor for their team. A minor penalty will be assessed to a team failing to meet this.
TOURNAMENT RULES:
• USA Hockey rules apply.
• No checking will be permitted.
• The Referee shall order the teams on the ice at the appointed time for the beginning of a game and for the start of each period. On-Ice Officials should enter the ice surface prior to warm-ups and remain on the ice at the conclusion of each period until all players have exited to their dressing rooms. Penalties may also be assessed during the warm-up period.
• All players must be registered through USA Hockey and a team’s initial roster with players First Name, Last Name, and USA Hockey number must be provided to RHL upon registration.
• All rosters and player eligibility will be confirmed through Elite Prospects/Hockey DB or any other reasonable means. The RHL Spring Thaw committee reserves the right to address issues of eligibility at ANY TIME throughout the tournament.
• Final rosters will be due by May 7th and will consist of no more than 18 skaters and 3 goalies. Exceptions, may be granted if compelling evidence is presented to the committee.
• Any roster change after May 7th must be approved by the tournament committee.
• A player receiving 4 penalties in a game will be ejected from that game but will not receive a game misconduct.
• Intermediate Level: Slapshots ARE allowed.
• Gretzky rule will be in affect: 3-goals per game from any single player. An intentional “4th goal” by any single player will be disallowed and called as Icing. An intentional “5th goal” will be disallowed and the player will serve a minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
• Any team that forfeits a game is not eligible for the championship round.
• Player substitutions are not permitted; exceptions will be made for good cause. Exceptions must be presented to and approved by the tournament committee no later than one hour before the scheduled game time AND approved by the opposite team.
• All players must participate in two qualifying round games with designated team in order to be eligible for the championship round.
• Players currently suspended by USA Hockey are not eligible to play. Suspensions received during the 2021 Sprint Thaw will carry over under USA hockey rules.
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL:
This division may have players with some organized playing experience (either as an adult or a youth), little or no youth playing experience but have played several years as an adult player, and players that have some non-varsity high school experience but are several years removed from those levels. These teams are comparable to traditional “D” level adult league teams. **Players with any junior hockey experience or above will not be permitted to play Intermediate or below.**
