About this Event
***REGISTRATION NOT REQUIRED***
A carillon is a centuries old bell instrument, played with fists and feet in towers. The Hopeman Carillon in Rochester is one of only a couple hundred carillons in the United States. With 50 bells, it is considered a concert carillon. Every carillon is unique. In Rochester, a carillonneur plays more than 3 tons of metal186 feet above the ground.
Join us for a free Hopeman Carillon Concert to hear and meet Frank DellaPenna, the man behind the musical act Cast in Bronze! Bring a blanket and sit on the Eastman Quad as you hear carillon music played high above you. Stick around after the concert to meet the performer!
About Frank DellaPenna: A graduate of the French Carillon School, Mr. DellaPenna has been a full time performer for the past 30 years. He has previously served as resident carillonneur of the Washington Memorial Chapel. Currently, he is the creater/performing artist of Cast in Bronze, and has performed more than 15,000 shows with his traveling carillon, the only one of its kind in America. More information about the performer will be posted separately.
